Our 1935 movie is called A beautiful Disaster and is about a model, played by Jean Arthur, who lives in New York in a Penthouse and the The Stooges, who are playing three brothers as construction workers, who also live in the basement of the house, where the model lives in.
Arthur plays a very popular and attractive supermodel in this time and gets a lot of attention. Especially after the Three Stooges saw her the first time, while washing her windows. They are fighting for being the first person who meets her and throughout the movie they are falling in love in Arthur.
We chose this movie to be a screwball comedy, to get the people laughing in the Great Depression, which was going on in the 1930's and to forget for a moment what is going on in their lives.
As a studio we chose Columbia Pictures, which was best known for screwball comedies and had because of this also the right actors for our movie.
Our main Characters are played by Jean Arthur for the supermodel and the Three Stooges, as the three brothers. They all did screwball comedies and the Three Stooges were also known for slapstick comedy.
Another reason, why we chose Columbia Pictures, is that Franc Capra works with it. He is especially in this time a well known director, who was successful with his screwball comedy, which he directed. Because of this we would take him as director for the movie.
Our editor would be Gene Havlic, who already worked with Capra at his very successful previous movies, like It happened in one night.
A beautiful Disaster would be a black and white movie, because t this time, the colour movies a not very popular. Besides, the movie is a sound movie because it is the end of the silent era and the successful sound movies.
In a few scenes, the Hayes Code is affecting our movie. The kissing scenes have to be short because of the Hayes Code. Although the Three Stooges are known for their violent slapstick, they can't be too violent to not affect our movie. All in all, our movie is not very affected by the Hayes Code.
If have to change something, then I would change the plot of the movie a little bit because I think it is a little boring. Besides, I would change our poster, which is only grey because we did not had much more time in the end. I wold add colours or at least a greater contrast, so you can see the names and the rest better. I personally would change the layout of the poster too.
